Property Registration

Providing ways to protect your personal property from theft

Register Your Electronic Devices or Bike

One of the best theft deterrents is being proactive. Thieves often won’t steal what they can’t sell. Registering your property reduces or eliminates its resale value.

Laptop and Electronic Device Registration. NUPD offers students, staff, and faculty free device registration through STOP Theft. Your device’s serial number, model, and other details will be recorded and sent to STOP Theft for their online asset registration database.

STOP Security Plates deter theft by using a metal security plate or a polycarbonate tag that’s affixed to your device with high-bond adhesive. This plate is extremely difficult to remove, and it clearly marks your device as registered and monitored, making it a liability for any would-be thief. If the plate is ever removed, STOP Security Plates are also affixed above a chemically bonded tattoo, stating Stolen Property. The tattoo is nearly impossible to remove without severely damaging the device and thereby reducing resale value for the thief.

Bike Registration. NUPD offers a free bicycle registration service to students, faculty, and staff. Your bicycle model, serial number, and details are recorded then transferred into an online database that’s managed by NUPD. A weatherproof registration sticker is also installed on the bike. These details are essential in the recovery of stolen bicycles and the property registration deters theft.
