Community Resource Dogs
Northeastern Police has three remarkable canine companions that play vital roles on campus. Cooper, Sarge, and Ryder contribute to a safer and more comforting campus environment and are beloved by the Northeastern Community.
MEET COOPER

Cooper, an English Cream Golden Retriever, was the first canine to join the department, in 2021. Cooper specializes in emotional support and Search and Rescue, and is a huge resource to our students, staff, faculty and to our neighbors in the local Boston community. Cooper was trained by Golden Opportunities for Independence (GOFI) in Walpole, Mass.
MEET SARGE

Sarge, an American Labrador Retriever, came to us from Puppies Behind Bars and is trained in explosive detection. When not performing his protective sweeps, Sarge attends community events and participates in community outreach.
MEET RYDER

Ryder, an English Cream Golden Retriever, is the latest canine addition to the department. Ryder is being trained by Golden Opportunities for Independence (GOFI) in Walpole, Mass. to specialize in emotional support and Search and Rescue.
APPEARANCES AND VISITS
Cooper, Sarge, and Ryder love to make appearances and one-on-one visits with staff and students. However, they also need their rest in order to play their role and frankly, cannot be everywhere, all the time.
