File A Complaint
In order to maintain citizen confidence in the Department and to ensure the integrity of the organization, it is the policy of the Northeastern University Police Department to receive and investigate every complaint filed against the Department or any employee. Toward that goal, Northeastern University and the NUPD provide several ways to file a complaint.
Filing a Complaint
A formal complaint may be submitted to the NUPD via:
- Phone – dial 617-373-2121 and ask to speak to a Shift Supervisor
- Walk-In
- Online – using the form found at the bottom of this page
Filing a Complaint with Assistance from an Intermediary
A formal complaint may also be submitted through an intermediary party.
One aspect of receiving feedback is to create a system whereby people feel safe reporting incidents of police misconduct. We have done this by identifying several offices on campus, where community members can go and report alleged incidents of misconduct to the Northeastern Police.
The designated individuals within these locations will serve as an intermediary for community members that don’t feel comfortable, at the time, to contact the police department directly. Intermediaries will serve as an advocate, provide support, and will be the point of contact for the complainant throughout the process.
Upon receipt of the form, NUPD Internal Affairs will fully investigate the complaint and take any appropriate action deemed necessary.
