Vehicle Gates on the Boston Campus

Keeping the pedestrian ways clear and safe.

Vehicle gates control entry to the pedestrian walkways and restricted roadways on the Boston campus. They keep unauthorized vehicles out of areas built for people on foot, which lowers the risk of a collision and reduces unauthorized parking.

If a vendor, contractor, or visitor needs to bring a vehicle in for a justifiable reason (e.g. specialized lab delivery, large equipment drop off), request access before the visit.

Start here: Request access for a vehicle

Faculty and staff submit the request. Your manager approves it. Access applies to the approved dates.

Opens in ServiceNow and requires your Northeastern login.

How access works

  1. You submit the request and name the approving manager.
  2. Your manager approves it.
  3. NUPD reviews the list.
  4. The driver taps a card or uses the gate intercom.

Have this ready

  • Company, driver name, and phone number
  • Building or lab, and the reason for the visit
  • Vehicle description
  • Date of the visit

Vendors and contractors

  • Sign out an access card from Facilities at the start of a shift.
  • Daily delivery companies are on a preapproved list.
  • Project managers, brief your crews before the first day on site.

What happens at the gate

Tap an authorized NUID card and the arm lifts. Without a card, press the intercom and give your name, your company, and who you are visiting.

Food delivery and rideshare drivers should meet you outside the gate.

Looking for parking?

The gates do not manage parking. MasParc handles permits, visitor parking, garages, and rates.
