OSAC MENA-RC Annual Conference

On May 20-21, 2020, the Overseas Security Advisory Council Middle East and North Africa Regional Council (MENA RC) will host its 7th annual conference at Northeastern University in Boston.  This year’s theme is (WHAT IS THE THEME THIS YEAR – WE SHOULD TIE THAT INTO THE POSTER SESSION).  Security experts from around the globe will present and lead discussions on issues facing US organizations operating in the Middle East and North Africa.

This year, the MENA RC invites college and university students in the Boston area to submit abstracts for poster presentations at the conference. A poster presentation is one in which information is summarized using texts and images, and presented in a poster format. This is an excellent opportunity to highlight your repository, a digitization project, a research project, thesis, or other initiative, and share your work with your colleagues, and the broader MENA security policy community.

Posters relating to Middle East and North Africa security issues are welcome, with suggested topics including, but not limited to: conflict analysis and resolution, international relations, security studies, business continuity, crisis management, resilience, and/or women and minority issues.

Submission Requirements:

Proposals are due by midnight on March 25, 2020 to the OSAC MENA RC posters Co-chairs at (XXXXXX). Submissions must be in PDF format and include the following:

• Title, beginning with the keyword “Poster:”
• All authors, including contact information and institutional affiliation
• 125 word abstract, including the particular problem being addressed, and your approach to the problem. Providing preliminary results is suggested but not required.
• If the work was previously published outside the security community, please include a reference to the existing publication.

Deadlines:

• 25 March: Abstract Submission
• 3 April: Shortlist Contacted for Poster Submissions
• 17 April: Poster Submission*
• 1 May: Notifications of Acceptance
• 19-20 May: Posters Displayed

*Presented posters can be sized up to 24 x 36 inches (or A1), either portrait or landscape, but the submitted versions should be scaled down to letter or A4 for submission as a PDF.

Poster Session Details:

The Poster Sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 20 in the Atrium Area of Northeastern University’s Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Center. There will be tables by each poster station for handouts or other materials.

Selected poster presenters will be required to setup your poster at the beginning of the conference.  Poster stands will be provided by the conference. Each presenter is required to stand with your poster during break sessions (about 75 minutes).

Posters must be formatted 24 x 36 inches (or A1) and will be attached to a 40×30 inch backing.

All poster presenters will be mentioned in the conference material and are invited to attend the annual conference (there is no charge).
